Fire Guard Services

At Security USA®, Inc., we provide certified Fire Guard services throughout New York City for properties, facilities, and operations that require professional fire watch coverage and FDNY compliance.

Fire Guards are required in many situations throughout New York City to help maintain safe conditions in buildings, construction sites, shelters, public assembly spaces, and properties where fire protection systems are temporarily out of service. These positions are regulated by the FDNY and require specific Certificates of Fitness based on the type of property and assignment.

Security USA® provides certified Fire Guards for commercial properties, residential buildings, construction projects, hotels, shelters, special events, and other facilities that require fire watch coverage or fire prevention personnel. Our Fire Guards are trained to identify hazards, maintain fire watch logs, monitor affected areas, and respond quickly during emergency situations.

For larger commercial and residential properties, we also provide Fire Life Safety Director (FLSD) services for buildings that require advanced emergency coordination, evacuation management, and FDNY-compliant life safety supervision.

FDNY Certified Fire Guard Coverage

F-01 Fire Guard for Impairment

F-01 Fire Guards are assigned when a fire alarm system, sprinkler system, standpipe, or other required fire protection system is out of service. They conduct continuous patrols, monitor for smoke or fire conditions, maintain required documentation, and help ensure the building remains protected until systems are restored.

These assignments are commonly required in office buildings, residential towers, hotels, mixed-use properties, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings throughout New York City.

F-02 Fire Guard for Shelters

F-02 Fire Guards work in shelters and temporary housing facilities where fire safety monitoring is required. Their responsibilities include conducting patrols, checking exits and common areas, identifying hazardous conditions, maintaining fire watch records, and assisting staff and occupants during emergency situations.

F-03 Indoor Place of Assembly Safety Personnel

F-03 certified personnel are assigned to indoor places of assembly, including event venues, theaters, studios, terminals, museums, and similar occupancies. Their role focuses on maintaining safe occupancy conditions, monitoring exits and egress paths, and assisting during alarms, evacuations, or emergency incidents.

F-04 Temporary Place of Assembly Safety Personnel

F-04 personnel are assigned to temporary indoor and outdoor events that require fire safety staffing under FDNY regulations. This may include festivals, private events, outdoor gatherings, temporary venues, and special event operations.

Their duties include monitoring crowd safety conditions, helping maintain clear exits, identifying hazards, and supporting emergency evacuation procedures when necessary.

F-60 Fire Guard for Torch Operations

F-60 Fire Guards are required during hot work operations involving torches, welding, cutting, roofing, and similar activities that create open flames or sparks. They monitor the work area for fire hazards, verify proper safety precautions are in place, maintain fire extinguishers nearby, and continue fire watch procedures after work is completed as required by code.

F-60 Fire Guards are commonly used at construction sites, renovation projects, roofing operations, and maintenance work throughout New York City.

F-92 Fire Guard for Marinas and Boatyards

F-92 Fire Guards are assigned to marinas, boatyards, and waterfront facilities where fire watch coverage is required. Duties include monitoring the property for fire hazards, conducting patrols, maintaining logs, and assisting with emergency response procedures.
